November is now a Hindu Heritage Month in Canada. Metro Vancouver is home to a large and vibrant Hindu community. Hindutva is the third most popular religion in Canada. Diwali, one of the most significant Hindu festivals, falls in either November or October each year.
Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion in his statement said “Canada is the proud home to nearly 830,000 Canadians of Hindu heritage, and no matter where you are in this country, the positive impact of the community can be seen in all aspects of our society. From politics to art, business to medicine, and everything in between, Canadians of Hindu heritage are at the forefront of our continued growth and development.”
Founder of ICA VAncouver Neeraj Kumar said “It is an opportunity for others to learn more about Hindu culture, respect each other more and make a vibrant multicultural & peaceful society in the process.”
Celebrations of Hindu Heritage Month in Metro Vancouver
Since November is proclaimed as Hindu Heritage Month federally by the Canadian government just this year starting November 1, 2022. Indian organizations & associations did not have enough time to organize the major events this year but we are sure we will see many events being organized to celebrate Hindu Heritage Month Canada next year in 2023.
